At the turn of the last century, an artistic style arose in reaction to industrial production and served as the antithesis of industrial ugliness. Art Nouveau influenced painting and architecture the same as it did fashion and applied arts. It was also the last universal artistic style to spread throughout Europe and the United States. The Museum of Decorative Arts has prepared an exhibition of Art Nouveau – Vital Art 1900 to present the best works from its collections – whether from the Czech Republic or abroad.
On display will therefore be the masterworks of decorative art from the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. The exhibition is being held in the Municipal House in the center of Prague, which itself is among the most famous Art Nouveau buildings in the capital of the country and one of its treasures. If visitors wish, they can buy a special combination ticket, which allows them to see the exhibition Art Nouveau – Vital Art 1900 and the rest of the Municipal House.
