They say in the Czech Republic that every Czech is a musician. That may no longer apply but there sure are a lot of music fans. Thanks to that you will find dozens of music events, concerts and festivals all over the country. We would like to introduce some of them. Today, we will focus on classical music and the related genres. The music season of 2022 can start!
Hans Zimmer Live (20/04)
The Oscar-winning composer will come introduce his pearls to the Prague audience at the O2 Arena. You shouldn’t miss this event if you love movie soundtracks.Lang Lang in Concert (30/4)
Lang Lang, a pianist, teacher and philanthropist, has been one of the brightest stars in classical music. He sells out famous concert halls all over the world and he’s now coming to Prague. He will be accompanied by the Czech National Symphonic Orchestra.Pardubice Music Spring (31/3–15/5)
The Pardubice music spring is a series of 12 classical music concerts that are performed at several different places – in concert halls, theatres, monumental buildings or less traditional spaces in Pardubice and other places in East Bohemia. It is the 44th year of a popular music event.Prague Spring (12/5–3/6)
The annual Prague Spring is the most famous and most visited classical music festival in the Czech Republic. It’s also a festival with the longest music tradition! This year’s 77th festival will offer about 40 concerts all around Prague. You can’t miss the Prague Spring if you love classical music.
Andrea Bocelli: Believe World Tour (17/5)
Italian tenorist Andrea Bocelli will introduce the best of his repertoire in Prague in mid-June. The concert will take place in the O2 Arena, the largest indoor arena in the country.2CELLOS (18/5)
Two cellists have spent the last two decades together, performing as 2CELLOS. They have recorded six albums and have billions of views on YouTube. Their last tour should really be the last one, so don’t miss the chance to see them live in the Prague O2 Arena.Open Air Libuše (11/6)
The extraordinary elaborate performance of Smetana’s opera Libuše will take place with the attendance of the soloists of the National Theatre in Prague and the North Bohemian Theatre, at the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the creation of this unique work. Open Air Libuše indicates something extra – the performance will take place on a historical site near Nepomuk in West Bohemia.Celine Dion: Courage World Tour (22/6)
Pop diva Celine Dion will perform in the Prague O2 Arena on one of the concerts postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Only a few tickets are available now!Leoš Janáček International Music Festival (29/5–1/7)
One of the best events in Czech classical music in Ostrava! The festival commemorates Leoš Janáček, a native of North Moravia, who composed many operas and other pieces. The best Czech and international musicians regularly come to Ostrava for the festival concerts. The festival also offers a rich accompanying programme for children and adults – seminars with the artists, workshops for children or exhibitions.Smetana’s Litomyšl (9/6–3/7)
The large music festival has been organised in Bedřich Smetana’s birthplace since 1949. The main programme includes opera performances, gala concerts, oratorios, cantatas, evenings with songs, ballet and music that goes beyond any genres. The centre of the festival events is the area of the Litomyšl Chateau, the UNESCO masterpiece in East Bohemia. This year, the programme will include, among others, Handel’s Messiah that first premiered 280 years ago.
