Manifesto – A New Gastro Paradise
The gastronomic and cultural project called the Manifesto Market has recently opened another branch in Prague. It is located inside the former market next to the Anděl metro station exit in Smíchov, towards the bus terminal. Manifesto combines carefully selected culinary concepts with a cultural programme. One visit will let you taste the authentic cuisine of the Mediterranean, Asia and America, as well as the pride of the Czech breweries or the best of Moravian winemakers. And that is not everything. The Manifesto creators also pay attention to a visual experience. In this case, the architects worked with the concept of a miniature city with small aisles, a square, a piazzetta and a boulevard. However, the structure is temporary; the site in Smíchov will be developed as designed by the Zaha Hadid Architects in a few years.Signal Festival
This year’s ninth autumn festival full of light – the Signal Festival – has returned after a year. From 14 to 17 October, it will offer four festival routes, fifteen public space installations, six installation in augmented reality, and a rich accompanying programme. It comes with a brand-new novelty: a mobile app with augmented reality. You can walk through the streets of Karlín with your smart phones and display digital art objects and interactive installations. All you need to do is to download the new festival app, hit the streets and explore with your smart phone.
Prague Parks in Colour
Prague is doing very well among other capital cities with its green areas; it is at the leading positions in various polls also thanks to the greenery. Especially in autumn, the trees and bushes turn into colours that are unparalleled. Where to go when you want to relax and maybe take some photos? Try Havlíčkovy sady, also called Grébovka, a park built in Vinohrady at the end of the 19th century. In the park you will find a fountain with a water cascade, a pond, pavilions, a villa of the former owner, sculptures, and a then-modern grotto. And when you get thirsty, you can sit in the Vineyard Gazebo with a romantic view of the vineyards. Enjoy the atmosphere of a real vineyard in the centre of Prague in the Grébovka cellar, hidden inside the east part of the vineyard in the historical vineyard track.
And what about wild nature? Even such places can be found in Prague. The Divoká Šárka Nature Preserve is situated on the rocky slopes of the Šárecký stream and the steppes above it, namely on its right bank. The steppes then merge into a large forest. It is one of the largest Prague parks that reaches to the wider city centre. You can even get there by the metro. When walking to the valley, climb up the rock on the right side of the road. There used to be a Slavic hillfort on its flat peak as early as in the eighth century. Just spread a blanket, sit down and enjoy the views.
Naturally, you will not be disappointed by any of the other parks in Prague, such as Stromovka, Letná Park, the Botanical Garden or Obora Hvězda. All of them are accessible by the metro or tram and all of them offer beautiful sceneries full of colours and autumn scents, especially right after the sunrise.
