Czech Airlines (ČSA), the world’s fifth-oldest airline, is marking the end of an era as its final flight lands in Prague tonight on 26 October.
Founded in 1923, ČSA has played a key role in Czech aviation history for a century. Despite attempts to modernize and adapt, the airline has faced financial challenges in recent years, leading to this significant moment. The end of operations signals a major shift in the Czech aviation landscape.
Smartwings will continue to operate two ČSA Airbus A320s that will retain the ČSA colors and code. In the coming months, four additional Airbus A220-300 jets will be added to the ČSA fleet operated by Smartwings, with the first two expected by the end of this year and the remaining two in early 2025.
