However, Christmas celebrations in Prague take place in many places, so you can also visit smaller markets at Prague Castle and Náměstí Míru.

Just two hours’ train ride from Prague, Olomouc hosts one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the Czech Republic. You can enjoy Christmas atmosphere and drink the renowned Olomouc punch in the middle of the historical city, next to the Baroque column registered in UNESCO’s world heritage list. Advent traditions, period attractions and local specialities are well-liked by visitors. Do not forget to taste the traditional regional cheese called “Olomoucké tvarůžky” and visit Entreé, the Czech Republic’s best restaurant of 2018.

Catch the Christmas spirit in Brno

The Christmas markets in the second largest Czech city will excite you. If you’re looking for traditional crafts, music and local delicacies, head to Dominikánské náměstí. Náměstí Svobody, the main city square, is the focal point of lively celebrations. You can watch light shows, listen to live music of various genres and styles, get exclusive drinks in the Winter Bar or make purchases in the designer market. You can then easily travel from Brno to Prague in just 2.5 hours or take a 1.5 hours’ ride to Vienna.
